The Public Defender represents individuals charged with a jailable offense, as well as individuals in juvenile cases in which the state is a party (e.g., Abuse & Neglect, Delinquency and Truancy). 

Only the judge can appoint the Public Defender to represent you. 

The Public Defender’s Office can only advise and assist individuals to whom it has been appointed.
